Our purpose as Jews is to, through doing mitzvos, extract and draw down the surrounding light into an inner light. A bracha (blessing) is something hidden that is now revealed clearly. Mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice) has a physical aspect and a spiritual aspect. A Jew's relationship to Hashem is inexplicable. The way to come close to Hashem in this world is through action. Moshe Rabbeinu has a cure for every Jew. Eyesight is so great that it has the potential to see the spirituality in the physical. The tzaddik lends us his eyes (really Hashem's eyes) so that we can see who we really are.
