Description

p 120. Burying a Jewish body is like planting a seed. Chinuch means to prepare something for the future. Adam means potential, like the earth has potential to give forth food. The neshama (soul) is to the body what the seed is to the earth. Our ultimate shleimus (perfection) comes through dveykus (bonding) with Hashem. Everything comes back to a good foundation. Gardening the neshama is hard work. The nefesh elokis (G-dly soul) is not natural, it is super-natural. The mitzvos are the gardening equipment which help draw the neshama out.
