Description
Tanya, p88. Physical mitzvos keep the light of a Jew lit. A mitzvah is a pure revelation of Hashem's ratzon (will). We feel close to Hashem with a tzaddik because he is revealing more of Hashem's light in this world. When we speak words of Torah, Hashem is enclothed in our thoughts and words. The tachlis (ultimate purpose) of this world is to do mitzvos and reveal Hashem here. We must force our bodies to do Hashem's ratzon. This world is all about the concealment of Hashem's light. The effects of our mitzvos will be revealed in the days of Moshiach and Techias Hameisim (Revival of the Dead).
