Description
p 101. There is a grave danger in saying that mitzvos (commandments) are a response to Hashem's 'emotions'. Hashem runs the world with emes (truth), not with rachamim (compassion). The world cannot exist by din (judgment) alone, since by the standard of din, imperfection could not be tolerated. Hashem is bringing the world to its ultimate tachlis (purpose) through seemingly crooked ways. The Torah is true in all conditions, at all times. As long as his children are alive, Yaakov is alive. The disagreements in Judaism are in the branches and leaves of our tradition, not in the roots.
