Description
p100. The Maharal argues against philosophical explanations of the mitzvos (commandments). The world was created in response to the mitzvos and the conditions of reality are created for us to do mitzvos. Doing the mitzvos refines us and increases our desire to do Hashem's ratzon (will). In his writings, the Arizal (Rabbi Yitzchok Luria) takes us to the spiritual root of the mitzvah. The tzaddikim (righteous) sew together Heaven and Earth. The point of our existence is to drag Elokus (G-dliness) into this world. Rachamim (compassion) can be terribly distorted when it comes from feelings and not from the neshama (soul).
