Description
p 86. Mitzvos outweigh aveiros (sins), but can one mitzvah outweigh all of our aveiros? Statistically, we are more likely to do aveiros than mitzvos. When we will be judged after our lives, the judgment is not quantitative, but qualitative. The Arizal says that the mitzvah of tzedakah reveals our essence. There are enough mitzvos to do that we do not need to get emotionally excited and overemphasize the externals issues of the Jewish people. Lot's hachnasas orchim (hospitality to guests) was not truly real because he was a rasha (an evil person).
