Description

p 30 Man is form and water is anti-form, thus there is a conflict between man and water. The three parts of man are the guf (body), the nefesh (emotions), and the sechel (the intellectual soul). If we are invested in one of the three parts, we will be lacking in the other two. Shabbos relates to the rest and inner stillness of the sechel. Zerizus (alacrity) relates to the emotional locomotion of the nefesh. The mitzvos are the special activities correspond to our true spiritual nature given to us by Hashem which allow us to fit in naturally with our existence. When we do a mitzvah, we are refining ourselves, a natural process for a Jew.
