Description

From Mei Marom Chanukah (6). God promised Aharon that he would merit an honor greater than donating to the Mishkon - handling the Menorah and leading the victory of Chanukah. Why was this honor considered "greater" than anything else? There are three leveks of self-sacrifice. Material concerns ruled by the body, holy over profane but within reason, and completely nullifying the body by accessing the root of the soul itself. The last is Jewish self-sacrifice. The Greeks attacked the Jewish spirit and not body because they were jealous of this self-sacrifice. Torah causes this, because the Torah, God, and the Jews are one. With their lives on the line, Jews will always turn towards God. Chanukah is all spiritual and accesses the highest level
