Description
P. 114 in Raza D'Shabbos, Eliyah Weintraub, zt'l's piece: "Mitzvah Mora Shabbat - Amidah Lifnei HaMelech." The suprising advantage of yirah (awe) over ahavah (love). Different mitzvos (commandments) have different qualities (eichus). If we are not keeping mitzvos, then what is the purpose of our learning? The single and simple goal of our learning is to bring us closer to G-d, to accepting the yoke of Heaven. Learning must lead to doing. Accepting Hashem's malchus (kingship) means complete obedience; the King's opinion matters, regardless of how far away and hidden a person might be. It's not about me, it's about Hashem. A deep and lasting relationship depends on nullification of the self for the sake of the other. The foundation of a marriage is determined by observing how the spouses treat each other when they are not able to be together. "Quality time" - a complete misnomer.
