P. 107 in Raza D'Shabbos, Eliyah Weintraub, zt'l's piece on Knesses Yisrael v'ha Zugo Shabbos. The whole purpose of the Torah is to reveal Hashem's name. Erev Shabbos is the day that Adam was created. Malchus (kingship), the number seven, is what returns creation to its source. Erev Shabbos, from a different perspective, is the tachlis (ultimate purpose) of creation, and Adam is also the tachlis of existence. The letter 'beis' in the world Bereishis has a desire to reconnect with the 'alef'. Lighting a candle in the reshus harabim (public domain) is like the beis reaching back to the alef. The sixth day is also a return to Hashem, a way to reveal kavod shamayim (Hashem's honor) through the creation of man, who has the option to return Hashem. Without Torah, it is impossible to understand the nimshal of the mashal (the teaching under the analogy). The job of the abba (father) is to bring the neshama into this world. Man is the tikkun (fixing) of the separation of the alef and beis.
