Raza D'Shabbos. P. 352 - The bitul (nullification) and shvisa (resting) of Adam is not the spiritual aspect stopping, it is the earth aspect of Adam stopping. Why do there have to be so many wars, both international and in the Jewish home, before Moshiach comes? Moshiach is not about receiving all sorts of rewards, it is about the revelation of the essence of us and the world and more. There has to be a time in erev Shabbos when we can see that the earthly form of Adam is a caricature of the real Adam. The mikveh before Shabbos gets rid of the week day self and makes a person worthy to wear the clothing of Shabbos.
