Description

Razah D'Shabbos - P61 - Essay: Gimmel Shlavim B'Or Shabbos A person whose bod is subservient to his neshamah (soul) is completely rooted in menuchah (rest). When we have clarity and certainty we can stay connected to Shabbos even during the week. What a person does is not necessarily who he is. Esther HaMalkah simply "was," - she "lo bikshah davar" didn't need or ask for anything else. Abstaining, not doing, not needing, is a greater level than "going out" and "doing." One has to be fortunate in life to be able to "do" what one "is." Happily married by just "being" together, without the need to go out or "do" something. "Shev ve'al ta'aseh" (remain still and do nothing) is so much more conducive to menuchah than "kum ve'aseh" (get up and do), even in kedushah (holy matters). Menuchah is deeply connected to kiddush (sanctifying) Hashem, which we also see in the Shmoneh Essreh of Shabbos Minchah.
