Razah D'Shabbos - P49 - Essay: Inyan Melaveh Malkah
The two ways of "Ani Hashem Elokeichem" (I am your God) - bechirah/da'as (understanding) and emunah (faith). We learn from Har (Mount) Sinai that even though a person is an eved (servant), there still is a point of choice to do, or not do the work - with the attendant consequences. We are Jews whether we like it or not. When the aspect of: "I am your King" is revealed. Even Jews who were net interested in Yiddishkeit were rounded up, deported, and killed for being Jews. Still eating matzah, even after the concentration camps - which is the ponit of simplicity, of simple emunah, of "eino yodeah lish'ol" (doesn't know how to ask any questions). Our desparate attempts to make Judaism exciting for our children and students. There is not divorce between a father and a child, or between Hashem and a Jew - Purim and the Holocaust are constant reminders of this fact.
