Description

Razah D'Shabbos - P41 - Essay: Achizas shamayim va'aretz Choosing greatness by choosing the kedushah (holiness) of Shabbos. The kedushah of Shabbos comes from "resting." A definition of the true meaning of rest. On Shabbos, everything returns to its mekor (source) in Godliness. What is the eidus (testimony) we proclaim every Shabbos night at kiddush? We enter into the kedushah of Shabbos by completely letting go of the work of the week and allowing all our energies that were invested in that work to return to their source, our nefesh (spirit). What was the special aspect of our facing Har Sinai? Facing Hashem, our spouse, and Shabbos to the exclusion of everything and everyone else. Missing the innter place of rest, the ability to be encamped and focused. The disruption of our davening by electronic devices we can't seem to turn off for 45 minutes, by needing to leave shul for a "break."
