A child is the continuation of his parent. The metaphysical life force of the tzibur (congregation) can enver die. Chochmah (wisdom) of the nefesh (soul) is the ability to bring forth a thought that did not previously exist. Giving birth to a child is the closest we can get to "bereishis barah Elokim" [the birth of the world]. When the week look s like it has ended and died, along comes Shabbos and returns everything to its source to be reborn the following week.
