Description
7th shiur based on Rav Avraham Yitzchok Kluger's "Nezer Yisroel - Sichos Ma'amarim" Volume 1, p. 286 In the essay: Ziv HaShabbos, section: "Klum Chasser B'Veis HaMelech."
An example of what happens when a king opens his palace for one day and allows his subjects to enter and ask for his help. The artisan's wonderment at the beauty of the decorations and furnishings. The poor wise man only is interested in talking directly to the king and to pour out his heart. Awed, overwhelmed and rendered speechless by the king's mere presence. We generally don't understand and know what it means to be a complete ani (poor person) - this has affected our ability to pray. We have an "open door into the palace day" every week - it's called Shabbos. Shabbos is not the time to express our wants and needs or even taking stock of what we have; not in ruchnius (spirituality) and not in gashmius (matters of this world). Coming into Shabbos with ALL other Jews, no matter their status or wealth. All we want is a free pass directly to the King, given to us by the King Himself. The gift of Shabbos is that we are allowed to be in Hashem's treasury, completely wrapped up and locked up in Shabbos.
