Description

2nd shiur based on Rav Avraham Yitzchok Kluger's "Nezer Yisroel - Sichos Ma'amarim" Volume 1, p. 286 In the essay: Ziv HaShabbos, section: "Klum Chasser B'Veis HaMelech." Arba'im chasser achas (forty lacking [minus] one) - melachah (work) means that something is still missing. Shabbos is the antidote to the lack of the six days of the week. Shabbos not only removes physical defeiciencies but also blemishes in our avodas (service of) Hashem. A baby in his crib - the closest example to an existence completely free of responsibility - nothing is lacking. Our immature desire to extend the life of "kol melachah assuyah" (all work has been completed [for you]). Even though we run around all week longto take care of our needs, we forget that, without Hashem, we cannot accomplish anything. If we put our burdens on Hashem, we don't feel a lack. When Shabbos arrives, a person finds himself in the King's palace.
