Description

Ba’aley teshuva (individuals who have repented from sins) are often plagued with an underlying fear that they’ve sinned too gravely to return. During the Yomim Noraim (Days of Awe) we are too scared to sincerely face G-d. During ma’aseh breishis (time of creation) the earth was scared to produce trees that would taste like the fruit. We are scared to face the reality of the present moment and we therefore try to distract ourselves.
