Description

Rav Kook spent a lot of time speaking with Jewish writers and urged them to express themselves through writing. A yeridah (moral decline) impedes the blossoming of art, literature and music. Expression of a Jew is G-dliness. Everything we do that is not Jewish is silly. Pritza's (licentiousness) and emptiness of secular Israeli's is disgusting and a poor imitation of American filth. Lubuvitcher Rebbe drew Jewish artists closer to Jewish observance. True sources of Jewish art are wisdom, kedusha (holiness), tahara (purity), emunah (faith).
