Description

Thought of teshuvah is constantly dwelling in a Jew's heart and is the yesod (foundation) of our hope to improve. Teshuvah is the cause of melancholy since we recognize that our aspirations are not fulfilled. Basic disposition of teshuvah is the awareness of that great exalted perfection of G-dliness. A world without teshuvah is a world without knowing and a world without knowing appears to be more cheerful but instead of heading towards life it is heading towards death. Hashem sent us into this world to clean it up. A person who cleans for Pesach sees that everything we pick up is not clean yet. The biggest slave is the one who thinks everything is clean but his life is really filled with filth.
