Only shmiras hamitzvos (safeguarding the commandments) will assist our Jewish survival. It’s not enough for us to be connected to the cultural aspects of Judaism. Making even the slightest changes in our traditions can have devastating effects. Even the strongest promoters of "Jewish culture" have children and grandchildren who are intermarrying. If one doesn’t believe in mitzvos, our love for the Land of Israel is not really deep. The lefties in Eretz Yisrael don’t understand the deep love that religious people have for the land. There’s less likelihood of "fallout" from Judaism within the frummer (more religious) communities.
