Tzaddikim (righteous individuals) are constantly doing teshuvah and fixing even the tiniest blemishes. We need to connect ourselves to the tzaddik. When a tzaddik falls into a dark place and clings to Hashem, he gets pulled out and carries all the people that attached themselves to him.
