Description

Targeting specific sins is the first step in teshuvah (repentance). When we do teshuvah our soul feels a subtle pleasure because of the Heavenly forgiveness and chesed (loving-kindness) that shines upon us. The joy of teshuvah does not contradict being broken hearted over our sins. We should not dwell on our sins when starting teshuvah. Rav Soloveitchik differed with the mussar school. Rebbe Nachman's understanding of teshuvah.
