Description

Rav Kook's Shmoneh Kevatzim, Kovetz 4, p.116 (also in Oros HaKodesh). What is unique about Chochmas HaKodesh (wisdom of the holy [Torah])? Torah contains a "person-changing," transformative power and the power of hischadshus, renewal. Knowing something [e.g., the syllabus of a subject such as physics] does not challenge us to change and become a different / better person. There is a disconnect when subjects of the world appear to be much more attractive than Torah. We need our most talented and spiritual people to be teachers and mashpi'im (influencers), steeped in pnimius (inner) haTorah; for if they are not, then that void will be filled by unqualified person, who will study and attempt to disseminate this knowledge in an imroper, impure and incomplete way.
