Description

Rav Kook's Ma'amar "Al pnimius haTorah." p. 319. A person cannot only live in the "practical" side of Torah without immersing himself in the inner aspects of Torah. A soul's need for pnimius (the inner essence) never goes away - if it is not allowed to grow in Torah, it will turn towards a destructive outcome. Our neshamah (soul) demands that we help it reach its shleimus (perfection), each person according to his soul's abilities. The nonsense we put our children through - they have deep and fresh neshamos, and we lock them up in regimented schedules and institutionalized Yiddishkeit. Force-fed algebra! A great, yet crushed soul, stuck in an inappropriate life-curriculum will be eternally angry and bitter. The difficult youth years of some of the greatest Torah luminaries. When you don't want to do something, then everything is mesirus nefesh (a huge effort). Great contributions by angry and desctructive Jews.
