Description

P. 53 What happens when a person is only motivated by bringing joy to himself when he deeply and intellectually applies himself to learning Torah. It is a big mitzvah to learn Torah to drive away sadness - for everything that Torah does for a Jew. A clearer understanding of "lo lishmah" (not for Her own sake) and "lishmah" (for Her sake). We must stop, think and contemplate what it is that we are learning - to get a great and powerful feeling for the exaltedness of Torah. A person must fill himself with revealed Torah before he is allowed to enter the orchard of pnimius (innermost parts) of Torah. Who were the Jews that were able to enter Raban Gamliel's Beis Medrash even though there were guards at the outside? When we really want something, whether in ruchnius (spirituality) or gashmius (physical matters), guards will not be able to stand in our way.
