Description

Third of three shiurim based on Rav Kook's personal recollections - Chadarav. p. 116 in Chadarav. A person has conflicting longings and aspirations. The torn-ness of the world is its beauty. Shabbos is the raiyon haklali (the all-inclusive idea). Children can easily detect the real raiyon haklali in their parents' lives. Rav Kook listened to the true nature of his soul and his thoughts and said, "The one thing that does not change in me is that I must change. I am always standing at the beginning." Great people do little things with gadlus (greatness), and a small person does great things with katnus (smallness). Beauty is when everything fits together. The great all-encompassing idea can only come through being involved in the pratim (details). The big teruah of the shofar blowing is that all-inclusive idea.
