In the fifth chapter of Oros HaTorah, Rav Kook explains the power of the osios (letters) of Lashon HaKodesh (the Holy Tongue). Connecting to the letters themselves can be higher than understanding what they are explaining. The letter on the page or parchment is the final stop in a series of descents from the upper worlds and beyond. Nothing can equal the joy and delight contained in the letters. The letters are like fiery horses that can take us beyond our level very quickly. Great tzadikim know how to tap into the level of the letters in their learning.
