Description

Kesher (attachment) of Torah with Hashem can only be accomplished by learning in-depth. Our problems in davening (praying), performing mitzvas, tikkun ha'middos (character improvement), simchas haChayim (joy of life) can be traced back one root problem. We lack an awareness of the connection between Torah and Hashem based on "b'derech klal." (a very broad and general understanding). Every soul wants to know how every detail brings us closer to Hashem. There is a lower Torah of millions of halachas (laws) which are very detailed. The higher Torah is the great over-arching presence of Hashem before it came into this world via passukim (verses) of the Written Torah. On Shabbos we take a step back and see the whole picture. Chutzpa (brazeness) of our generation comes from a frustration of really wanting to know how halacha and all its details fit together with Hashem. Rav Kook's last project was connecting halacha with the shoresh (root) of where it came from.
