Description

Reb Chaim of Volozhin considered understanding the objective of learning. Every word we learn is also coming out of Hashem's "mouth." Before learning we should pause and purify our heart by thinking of teshuvah in order to be in the proper state of mind for learning. Before learning we should pause and commit ourself to fulfill what we learn. One has permission during learning to take a drop of time to re-ignite our fire of yiras shamayim (Fear of Heaven). All is for the sake of Torah- not for the sake of feeling devykus in Hashem. 5 minutes for every 15 hours of learning allowed for a recharge of yiras shamayim break.
