Description

The Rosh explained that we fulfill miztvahs for the Creator. When we study Torah we do it lishma- for the sake of the Torah. Reb Chaim of Volozhin agreed with the Chassidim that the generation lacked devykus in Hashem. Reb Chaim saw a danger of chassidim not davening at right times because of their "preparations." Dvekyus is an ideal; lack of kavannah does not disqualify the mitzvah. The tachlis is combination of physical act of mitzvah with holiness of thought. Must approach learning Torah with the proper attitude.
