The Yid HaKodesh and the Chozeh of Lublin (seer of Lublin), were engaged in constant quarreling. The Yid HaKodesh believed that one should attain a greater connection with G-d through hard work. He believed that chassidim should not rely on miracles. He also believed that chassidim should not be solely dependant on the Tzaddik (righteous individual) for his own religious and spiritual fate. In contrast, The Chozeh of Lublin feared that the Yid HaKadosh was steering away from the way of the great Baal Shem Tov, founder of Chassidus. There was an attempt by the Yid HaKodesh and his talmid Reb Simcha Bunim of Pshischa to make peace, but they were unsuccessful. Despite the fact that the Yid HaKodesh was told never to come back to Lublin, he still defiantly returned on many occasions to meet with his great teacher, the Chozeh.
