Description

Yaakov arrives in Shechem (Nablus) whole in body, money and attachment to Hashem. Yaakov establishes the Tachum Shabbos (boundaries of the Sabbath) in Shechem and thereby establishes the ability of the Jew to succeed in the world of Esav. Yaakov bequeaths to the Jew the potential to live in purity in the 3 areas in which the rest of the world fails- idolatry, immorality and murder. Shabbos and the Torah are the antidote to avodah zarah (idolatry), Shfichas Damim (murder) and Gilui Arayos (sexual immorality).
