Tzadikim are like spiritual doctors whose mere presence can heal spiritual ailments. Torah scholars are at great risk of developing spiritual ailments- especially gaiva (haughtiness.) We have to find the tzaddik (righteous person) who matches our individual needs. Yisro realized that the yetzer harah (evil inclination) remains in us even after we are greatly inspired.
