Description

A niggun (melody without words) is created by separating good from bad sounds. The effect of a niggun is to separate the good inside of us from the bad. Giving tzedakah is a selfless outward act of good which together with the Tikkun K'lali (the ten Psalms of rectification), neutralizes the selfish outward act of bad in p'gam ha'bris (sexual impurity). The strongest power of tumah (impurity) is generated by wrong music.
