Why do so many Jews travel to Uman for Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish new year)? Rebbe Nachman told his followers that G-d granted him a unique understanding of Rosh Hashanah, and the whole world depends on his Rosh Hashanah. While he was alive, Rebbe Nachman insisted that his followers spend Rosh Hashanah in Uman, even if a person felt he could concentrate better elsewhere. Rebbe Nachman indicated that it would be important to spend Rosh Hashanah in Uman even after his death. We learn a story about a son who wishes to travel to a tzaddik, but is held back by his father. A person may need a tzaddik (righteous man) to bring him to his ultimate greatness.
