Description

Continuation of a Torah from Likutei Maharan (the magnum opus of Rebbe Nachman). The opposition and scorn that tzaddikim (righteous people) face, protects them from pursuing human honor. Teshuvah (repentance) involves remaining silent in the face of the humiliation and difficulties. The word “eheye” (I will be) is used to refer to the state of a person who has already decided to engage in Teshuvah, but has not yet completed the necessary steps. G-d enables us to perform evil deeds quickly and painlessly, but righteous deeds require patience and persistence. Embarrassment is compared to shfichas damim (spilling blood), and blood symbolizes the yetzer horah (evil inclination). The embarrassment we experience in our attempts at teshuvah cleanses us of our yetzer horah (evil inclination).
