Our attempts at teshuvah (repentance) will always be encumbered by obstacles. G-d can be found even in Rome and all other places that appear to be completely devoid of any trace of G-d. During the receiving of the Torah Moshe Rabeinu walked straight into the darkness, while everyone else was to scared to approach it. Moshe Rabeinu (our leader) found the shechinah (G-d’s glory) hidden within the darkness. Our greatest obstacle is our own mind. By utilizing our challenges properly, we can become more righteous. G-d loves din (judgment) but he loves the Jewish nation even more. G-d hides himself within the obstacles that impede our growth.
