The tzaddikim of the generation strengthen our tefillos and add light to the darkness. The threat of Amalek is to weaken our tefillos by convincing us of its futility. No tefillah is ever lost. The tzaddik brings our combined tefillos to the Kisei Hakovod (Throne of Glory). Mordechai and Esther are the paradigm of the tzaddik and the Jewish People. Esther obeyed the tzaddik and prayed fervently. Mordechai taught Esther about prayer and the preciousness of always being able to start again.
