Description

P. 47. Humans are creatures of dignity. Speech is what differentiates us from animals, but there is a more pnimi (inner) reason. We might think that sechel (intellect) and zikaron (memory) makes us different, but animals also have those two. Putting something down to show that something else is greater still does not reveal the nekudas hapnimis (the inner point) of that greater thing. When a plant or animal loses its life force, it falls from its level. Animals only think about themselves right now. Humans reflect and relate to the world beyond this current moment. A human knows that he is a chelek (part) of the whole creation.
