Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev was the great defender of the Jewish people. Eliyahu Hanavi told his father that he would be a light to the world. The Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid of Mezritch were the sandak and mohel at his bris (circumcision). He married at a young age and later went to Mezritch to learn from the Maggid. His love for fellow Jews was like fiery coals. There is a tradition that he had the neshama of Rabbi Akiva.
