Eretz Yisrael (land of Israel) and Shabbos are the same type. Eretz Yisrael and Shabbos are both preceded by, and followed by, three things. The root of 'eretz' (land) is ratzon (desire). We have an underlying desire for Hashem and are therefore compared to Eretz Yisrael. The ratzon for holiness on Shabbos compared to a weekday is similar to the relationship between Eretz Yisrael and chutz la'aretz (lands outside Israel). Kedushah (holiness) is the opposite of inconsequential things. Eretz Yisrael draws a person with love and deveikus (attachment). Sur ma'ra (turning from evil) is the main avodah (spiritual work) of the six workdays. We must not do spiritual stocktaking, clarifying good and bad, on Shabbos.
