Description

P. 34 in the commentary (9th perek). The nefesh behamis just wants to have a good time. The most natural taanug (pleasure) comes from things in this world because they are most easily available. The nefesh behamis can give you an even greater pleasure in your avodas (serving) Hashem than the nefesh elokis can. If a person is not having pleasure from their Yiddishkeit, then they will follow their nefesh elokis into physical pleasures. Every Jew naturally loves Torah. The yetzer (inclination) is not in its essence ra (evil), it is only called that when it follows its natural desire toward things that are ra. The root of a not wanting Torah comes from a simple mistake in thinking. The nefesh behamis does not care about right or wrong or good or bad, only getting pleasure.
