Hashem created the world where there is life and death, to maintain bechira (free choice), and continues to infuse all of existence with life, even those creations that do not acknowledge His existence. There are only two teams - Hashem's or on the Other Side. Everything in this world is hard and filled with evil. True tov (good) is when the ohr haEloki (G-dly light) is shining. Darkness has no substance. The more light we have in our lives, the less afraid we are of the dark, and the less dark there is. Every Jew has the power of bitul and mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice).
