Description

From Rav Moshe Wolfson's sefer Likutei Oros, continuing the review of some of the major themes in the 3rd chapter of the Tanya. What is the point of learning a sefer (book) that is aimed at a person, a Beinoni (intermediate level), who is on such a high level? In our generation, we are simply trying to think about Hashem sometimes, amidst our mental confusion. There is a mitzvah to violate Shabbos to save a life, even if the person will only live for another minute. We have to find our place and serve Hashem from who we are. The stories of tzaddikim are here to transform us, not for base entertainment. In our generation, our mitzvos are weaker, but are more cherished by Hashem. We should be more upset about the Chilul Hashem (desecration of Hashem's name) and the exile of the Shechina than the low level of our avodas Hashem.
