When all of the Jewish people come together as one, then Hashem is the King. Studying Malchus (kingship) in this world helps us to understand Hashem's Malchus. Beginnings and endings are always connected. In this world of impurity there is higher, lower, seperation, and division. The minhag (custom) to eat round challahs at Rosh Hashana has deep roots. Hashem reveals His light in a linear way and in a circular way. Yosher (the linear light) is connected to time, space, and our spiritual level. Igulim (the circular lights) are beyond time, space, and spiritual level, and are known as the surrounding light.
