Description
The plans of the Aish Kodesh of repairing chassidus were stopped by the Holocaust. Depression causes a Jew's yiddishkeit (inner connection with G-d) to crumble. In the generation just before the Holacaust, the Aish Kodesh bewailed living outside one's means and falling into debt. The Aish Kodesh encouraged families to support young men who were dedicated to learning. Today we have institutionalized learning where everyone goes along with support of young husbands who are not dedicated to learning. The Aish Kodesh wanted to educate young men who were on fire with Torah so that baal habatim (working men) would run to support them.
