Inappropriate attraction stems from the mida (trait) of chessed (kindness). The Ba’al Shem Tov showed us that our desires for filth originates from holiness. Service for G-d that is not completely sincere is still valuable. Any act of holiness actually helps us draw closer to our true spiritual selves.
