Description

A Navi and a Mekubal (recipient of the Jewish mystical tradition) both convey prophecy. What the Navi expresses in pictures describing a reality that was seen, the mekubal expresses in terms of what was thought. The mekubal uses words that express understanding of the intellect. Preparations are necessary for studying the Torah's secrets- you cannot just take a course in kabbala and become a Mekubal. The chacham (sage) is greater than the Navi since he is able to access the divine light from a higher world. Talmud chacham (scholar) "lives" in abstract world of halacha reflected in physical objects.
