As we get closer to the re-emergence of the age of nevuah (prophecy) the world has become more obsessed with the senses and wild imagination. Avodah of our generation is to find the healthy balance between details of the Talmud and big picture of nevuah. Rav Kook, Rav Yisrael Salanter and Rebbe Nachman all spent time with maskilim (secularists) at the end of their lives. Rav Kook was sensitive to the world's transformation and return to prophecy and encouraged creative talents.Rebbe Shimon started to reveal pnimius (hiddenness) of the Torah using the intellect.
